1. TRIM. YOUR. WICK!
Before lighting your candle, always trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch. It may seem like a small step, but it makes a huge difference.
A properly trimmed wick helps |
- Create a cleaner flame
- Reduce soot and smoke
- Prevent mushrooming
- Extend the life of your candle
- Allow your fragrance to perform at its best
We recommend using a wick trimmer for the cleanest cut, but nail clippers or scissors work in a pinch.
2. LET THE WAX MELT
The first burn is the most important.
Allow your candle to burn long enough for the melted wax to reach the edge of the vessel before blowing it out. Doing this helps prevent tunneling, a common issue where wax builds up around the edges, leaving unused wax behind. As a general rule, burn your candle for approximately 2–4 hours, depending on the size of the vessel.
3. DON'T BURN FOR TOO LONG
While it may be tempting to leave your candle burning all evening, longer isn't always better. For the cleanest burn and strongest fragrance, we recommend burning your candle for no more than four hours at a time. After blowing it out, allow the candle to cool completely before lighting it again.
4. KEEP CANDLES AWAY FROM DRAFTS
Drafts can cause an uneven flame, excess soot, and an inconsistent burn. For the best experience, place your candle away from |
- Open windows
- Ceiling fans
- Air conditioning vents
- Frequently opened doors
A calm flame creates a cleaner, longer-lasting burn.
5. KEEP YOUR CANDLES HAPPY
Candles are happiest in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them in direct sunlight, windowsills, or humidity. Proper storage helps preserve both the fragrance and the appearance of your candle.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
Why is my candle tunneling?
Tunneling usually happens when the candle isn't burned long enough during the first few burns. Allow the wax to melt completely across the surface before extinguishing the flame.
Why is my candle smoking?
A wick that's too long is the most common cause of smoking. Trim your wick before every burn and keep your candle away from drafts.
How often should I trim the wick?
Before every single burn. This simple habit creates a cleaner flame and helps your candle last longer.
Can I burn my candle every day?
Absolutely! As long as you're following proper candle care, daily use is a wonderful way to enjoy your favorite blend.
Why doesn't my candle smell as strong anymore?
Fragrance performs best with a properly trimmed wick and a full melt pool. Drafts, oversized rooms, and burning for too long can also affect scent throw.
How should I store candles?
Store candles in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight to preserve their fragrance and appearance.
